Craptastic Updates!

Blogger got tired of posting my pictures so I had to use Picasa for this post. Feh.

The top photo is yesterday's progress on the one piece cami-knicker set from the cover of Weldon's Pretty Undies. Pretend it's about six inches longer than the piece in the photo. I got that right after Thanksgiving from my PRGE pal BlackCrow along with the uber-snazzy Jumpers In Knitting and Crochet. This has added something like ten new things to my To-Do List and I'm not sure I'm at all pleased by it. New To-Do things means more yarn to either buy, steal, or spin. Right now I'm too broke to buy yarn and too lazy to steal or spin the stuff.

The cami-knickers are in vintage 1960's baby blue Nylo (nylon/wool blend). I'm not all that thrilled with the color and I may not even have enough to finish the top without resorting to knitting the top lace band in white Nylo and then top dying the whole thing, but I'm happy with the progress and potential fit. I really want to knit this in black silk. Oh yeah, hot stuff.

The mitten at the left is my one finished Body Count Mitten. I've got to spin up some more tan-ish wool for the second one. Since I finished the first mitt I've started about six new projects so it's been sitting around waiting for the mate to it. It's not exactly a happy mitten so I haven't been that excited about starting the other one but I should be at least casting on for it in a couple days anyhow.

I should be done by the time it gets cold enough to wear them here. Posted by Picasa

oh these are very pretty!
I found a old pattern for a cute little robin hood cap and tiny cabled gloves...
I think its from around the 40's...judging by the model and her pose.
I found it at the local junk shop in a huge trunk, which I'll need a whole day to sift through.
I also found some fantastic vintage large and small plastic double pointed needles in un-opened packets. I reserved a set for you.
Listers & co. (knitting wools), ltd.Manningham mills, Bradford, England.
'Hand Knitwear' in Lavend, No 941.
I wonder if they are listed on the net?
Yep I too have very much extended my too do list ,.....everytime I come here.
cheers

Sometimes you can find out dates & stuff from eBay listings too.

I'm now nearly done with the back but I think I'm going to have to take off the two leg parts & reknit those in white as well as all the other lace. The pattern says it uses 5 oz. of baby wool but I have 6 oz. and so far I haven't changed anything for sizing. I was hoping to use that extra ounce for the front reshaping since the Girls need some wiggle room.

Junk shops rule! I especially like the ones where everything is in piles and trunks and no one has any idea what the hell they have. I got some antique ivory handled crochet hooks in a sewing notions grab bag once and most of my kniting needles & pattern books have come from thrift/junk stores.
