Vintage Knitalong
Carpal tunnel syndrome, anyone?
The Kitchener Bitch is hosting a Vintage Knit-Along so you know I couldn't stay away from it. She has the 1940's Morale Builder Stockings that I have posted here and a clump of folks are knitting them. Or talking about knitting them, so I'm doing those too. I should have done those years ago when I got the pattern but I haven't had enough of the right kind of yarn for stockings.
Yes, I do have a handful of vintage metal garters to hold these suckers up.
I got bored with the idea of knitting the lace in the pattern so I'm using a skull & crossbones lace pattern I found here, which I had to redraw so it could be worked upside down since you knit most stockings from the tops down. I reworked the decreases so they're all in the back with a seam stitch down the leg like the previous post's Victorian Silk Stockings and the stocking top is a bit narrower than the pattern says--1" instead of 2". Grey wool/acrylic from a frogged thriftstore sweater. Size 2 needles.
There seems to be an unintentional pirate theme going on in these last three projects. At least this one was vintage.
Arrrrrrrr!
Arrrrrrr, again.
