Show & Tell

Because my camera has dead batteries and I'm much too chintzy to buy rechargable ones here's a post of some of last year's spinning. You didn't want to see a silk brick before you open it up or a bobbin full of shiny shiny silk singles anyhow.

Henry's Attic Spinning Wool. I've got 5 pounds of the stuff. Heathered grey and pretty soft. I eventually want to make a jacket but I haven't found the Perfect Pattern yet. Dammit. So I'm making some other crap right now. I mean come on, I've got five pounds of it. Right now I've got more than enough yarn to make the Snowball's Chance in Hell armwarmers that I've been thus far much too lazy to knit.

One bobbin of Henry's Attic singles. Or most of a bobbin, anyhow. This wool spins up pretty fast so I can do a full bobbin in maybe 4-5 hours.

Bad photo of skein of finished yarn before washing. I don't usually weight it since that can stretch it. Navaho 3-ply, because I don't have the patience to deal with three bobbins on my Lazy Kate and I also haven't got three hands. The real kicker to the Navaho 3-ply is that I also don't have to spin three whole fecking bobbins of singles before I can even ply my yarn.

Urban cotton! See, you can grow cotton on the 5th floor of a downtown apartment building. It's a Brown Nankeen cotton from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. Very short staple and not as nice a brown as the stuff you get from Vresis, but these are heirloom seeds. Some of my bolls came out greener than others so I saved those seeds. Of course I forgot to plant the damn things. I used Vresis Breeder's Green for my Urban Cotton Gloves, blended with some white cotton I grew and white wool.

Show & Tell is over. Nap time, kiddies.
