Dear Sexy Knickers

Someone must have made a few burnt offerings to the Gods of Freon. This is the first day I haven't come home and threatened to spontaneously combust on the sofa in front of the TV. It rained like hell yesterday and I swear steam came out of the ground.

Since it's now only about 80 degrees now I've decided to start spinning some stuff for undies. I've got most of a silk brick, maybe 4 1/2-5 oz. left, so that will be more than enough for either the drawers from this lace set, or these things. I kinda want to do the whole lace set in a wool/cotton blend too. I've got most of a pound of something called a "Bluestocking Blend" that I bought 7-8 years ago to make socks--it's made of 50% wool and 50% recycled blue jeans fiber. It's a kind of faded blue color and hopefully soft enough for winter underwear. Woodland Woolworks doesn't carry it anymore so I have to make do with what I've got. They do, however, have a blue jeans fiber/white cotton blend called Blue Sky that's almost the same color. But I want wool, dammit!

I'm getting a little too excited about making giant grandma thunder-bloomers. But they'll be hand-spun, dammit!

The Summer 1996 issue of Spin-Off had a silk lace teddy that sort of looks like what you'd get if you make the knickers and keep knitting past the waistband and add a tank top. I don't really think I have enough of the Bluestocking stuff to make both pieces seperately so I'd prefer to knit it in one piece. All I really need to do is figure out how the crotch could fasten without being a serious pain in the ass. Literally. Or the hoo-hah. The no-nos if you're a guy. Whatever.

Yes, Inky, I do live in hell. Downtown Hell to be exact, on the third floor of the Hades Arms with a cat who has a 666 birthmark. I also go to Limbo University, because I'll never, ever graduate and will be lurking here curled up in the corner of one of these damn classrooms long after all my much younger classmates die.

Ahhh, optimism is the way to go.
