Of Course My Day Ended Like This

Why is it every time I try to do something I'm waylaid by jackassery?

I had all these plans today to write this pattern and take some photos of that camisole. Of course it didn't happen that way.

I'm writing out the pattern for the new camisole and I start to notice fire engines. So what, I think. I live on a busy cross street and I'm always hearing some kind of siren or other. Then there's pounding. Pounding that shakes the building. So I go outside to see what the hell is going on and why they're breaking down down somebody's door and notice out the front hallway window that there just happen to be four fire engines parked out front. Coinkydink? I think not. So I go down the stairs and see a fireman casually putting on his air tanks and the second floor hallway is sorta smoky. Hmmm.

Just try and pull a cat out from under the bed by his tail when he's got claws in the rug. By the time I get his stupid ass in the carrier and got down the hall to the stairway (there's one in front and one in back) the second floor is entirely full of smoke.

So of course I pick the wrong damn stairwell to go down. I went down the one right fucking next to the apartment on fire. Are any of Stinktown's finest telling me to go down the other stairwell instead of the one with the smoke and water pouring down & hoses & stuff? Nope. Several of them lumbered past me but nobody said I shoulda gone down the other way.

I can see it now. "Hey you! Go back into that inferno and go out the front door!"

Oh, there were two fire trucks in the back of the building too.

We all stood outside in (I kid you not) 95 degree heat for an hour and a half before they got done blowing all the smoke out of the building & let us back in.

Apparently the dumbasses who live on that floor have mostly taken the batteries out of their smoke alarms because I only heard one going off and the smoke hadn't gone up to the third floor yet.

I'm sweaty and cranky and my apartment smells like burnt crap and I can still taste soot and the cat is traumatized so no pictures of me modeling the camisole until maybe tomorrow. For some reason Blogger doesn't want to upload the Skull Chart right now either. Gaaah!

Camisole pattern moved to this page.
