Sweaty Sweaters

Such a femine little outfit. Floral embroidery and doo-dads all over the place. Knitted head thingy that isn't even covering her ears. Oven mitts fit for an Arctic expedition, despite it being late August. Is it the gal's version of Special-Ed Mittens? You got it Jack!

See, she wanders around the neighborhood with her purse crammed with bottle caps, old leaves and maybe I think a dead turtle, but her fingers are safe from that damn chewing habit of hers. I mean she's gnawed her nails down to the first knuckle.

Really. Because I said so.

Monarch Girls' Hand Knit Styles, 1940's.

Here's a photo from my collection of people I don't know.

These girls get all done up and put on their best duds for a photo. They get their hair all frizzed special and everything.

I'd wondered for years why the chick on the right put on the sweater with the neck all stretched out. From the size of these girls' heads I'd say probably all of her sweaters look like that. Even the v-necks.

She kind of looks like she'd rather be somewhere else anyhow.
